What are the bases I should use to make a homemade barbeque sauce?

I decided that I want to make my barbecue sauce, but do not know much about what it is. What are the basics of a good barbecue sauce? I know there’s mustard, tomato, vinegar and the base, but how I can do myself? What are the spices and other ingredients that most barbecue sauces are made from? I love Famous Daves BBQ sauce brand and I also like Wee Willy. I love the sweet and sour sauce with a little spice to it. Can you give me some basic ingredients and spices to use and a decent set of ratios? I just need the basic ingredients and then I’ll know how to add my especias.Gracias others!

Why don’t you look up barbecue sauce on the internet? You will get lots of ideas and then can experiment them as you like.

    Good luck and good eating.

my old standby was equal parts of vinegar, molasses, ketchup. or corn syrup instead of molasses.
    Now, add what you like.

    ketchup, brown sugar, dry mustard

The usual mix is sweet, cane syrup, corn syrup, molasses. Acid, vinegar, citrus, (usually lime or lemon)
Tomato sauce for a base & hot to your taste, I use a mexican hot sauce called Tapitia. Think Tabasco only better. Lots of salt , garlic, & onion powder. Good luck & have fun with it.
