where can i dispose of an empty propane tank?

the tank is a small one, used with a portable gas grill.
the tank is a small one, used with a portable gas grill. not knowing i could get the tank refilled, i have two full replacement tanks and would like to safely dispose of the empty one.

You don’t dispose of them, you take them to a refill station and trade it for a full one-of course there is a charge for the propane in the replacement tank. Many regular gas stations have this service available.

somewhere in the woods, just kidding littering bad. No you trade them in for new that are full or you can just get it refilled. You can do this at walmart, kmart, and most gas stations.

Most municipalities have an “Eco-Center” They accept appliances, paint, etc.
This is the proper place to safely dispose of old propane tanks.

“Small” is not defined. Assuming that you are referring to a 1 lb. disposable cylinder, then you simply dispose of it in the trash. Propane in not an environmental hazard.

propane outlet will take it back. or if its empty. the garbage can
